English Language tutoring

English Language improves through doing the thinking on the page. We help students move from noticing a feature to explaining its effect precisely, and from having ideas for writing to controlling how those ideas are structured.

When students come to us

  • Their analysis identifies techniques but stops there.
  • They struggle to know what to write after a quotation.
  • Creative writing loses structure halfway through.
  • Timed responses are much weaker than homework.
How we teach English Language

From noticing to explaining.

01

For reading questions, first establish what the text is actually doing before naming techniques.

02

Move from evidence → method → effect → connection to the question.

03

Model how a paragraph is planned before expecting the student to write one independently.

04

For writing, practise deliberate control of structure, sentence length, tone and vocabulary rather than adding complicated words for their own sake.

05

Timed work is introduced once the method is secure.

Your specification

Your subject. Your exam board.

We don’t restrict ordinary subjects to one exam board. Tell us the board and specification your child is studying and lessons will be tailored to that course, its question styles and its mark schemes.

A tutor’s profile may list specifications they know particularly well. Those are areas of experience, not a limit on the exam boards Yunalo can support.

Between lessons

The lesson ends. The support doesn’t.

Yunalo keeps the work around each lesson in one place, so students know what to practise and parents can see what happens next.

Lesson feedback

What was covered, what was secure and what needs work.

Personalised homework

Set after the lesson where appropriate and linked to what the student actually needs to practise.

Marking & feedback

Submitted work can be returned with a mark and specific corrections.

Parent updates

A concise parent note after the lesson.

Progress history

Past work, feedback and results remain visible over time.

Questions parents ask

Do you teach my exam board?

Yes. Yunalo does not restrict ordinary subjects to one exam board. Tell us the board and specification when you enquire and we will tailor the lesson content and exam practice accordingly.

Can you help if my child doesn’t know exactly what they are struggling with?

Yes. The first step is often identifying the gap. We can use recent school work, tests or questions during the lesson to work out what is secure and what needs attention.

Do you set homework?

Homework can be set through the Yunalo portal to reinforce the work covered in lessons. Submitted work can be marked with feedback so the next lesson can respond to any remaining gaps.

Can you prepare for a particular school test?

Yes. If you send the topic list or relevant specification content, the lesson can be built around the material the student is actually being tested on.

Can parents see progress?

Parents can see lesson feedback, parent notes, homework and recorded progress through the Yunalo portal.

Looking for the right English Language tutor?
