Online tutoring

Most Yunalo lessons are online, on Zoom. A shared whiteboard keeps every piece of working, so the notes from a lesson three months ago are still there when revision starts — and a student in any part of the country gets the tutor who actually knows their specification.

Who this is for

  • Families anywhere in the UK
  • Students with packed schedules, where travel time is the real cost
  • Students who want a specific subject specialist rather than whoever is local
  • Anyone who wants lessons to carry on through holidays and house moves

What we cover

  • A shared whiteboard, so the working is visible to both of us
  • Every page of that working saved and available afterwards
  • Past papers annotated live during the lesson
  • Screen sharing for mark schemes, specifications and code
  • Written lesson reports the same day
  • Homework set, handed in and marked through the portal

Where marks actually go

The same few things cost most students most of their marks. These are the ones we attack first.

Will they concentrate?

One-to-one online is more demanding than a classroom, not less. There is nowhere to hide for an hour.

Writing maths on a screen

A cheap graphics tablet helps but is not required. Plenty of students work on paper and hold it to the camera.

Feeling less personal

Parents are welcome to sit in on any lesson, which is easier online than it would be in a front room.

Technical problems

A browser and a stable connection is the whole requirement. No software to install.

Exam technique

Past papers under timing, marked against the real mark scheme rather than an opinion. Every annotated paper is saved automatically, so a question you got wrong in October can be pulled up again in May.

Exam boards

AQA GCSE Maths; Edexcel IGCSE Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Spanish; Edexcel GCSE Computer Science; CIE IGCSE English and History; OCR GCSE Design & Technology. Other boards on request, where the content overlaps.

Who teaches this

Tell us the exam board and year group on the enquiry form and we will match you with whichever tutor fits best.

Written up the same day

Every lesson is written up the same day. You get what we covered, what went well, and the specific thing to work on next — not a tick in a box.

Everything in one portal

Homework, lesson write-ups, past-paper scores and invoices all live in a private portal. You sign in and see the whole history, rather than hunting through messages.

Online lessons take place on Zoom, using shared whiteboards or presentations where helpful. Home-based lessons are available within West Hampstead only, by arrangement and subject to tutor availability.

Parents welcome

Parents are welcome to sit in on any lesson, with no notice.
